Are we returning to the backward, steeped in condemnation dark ages of the church?

I'm afraid so. (Yet another reason why I find it impossible to call myself a Catholic.) Since the death of John XXIII, the Roman Catholic church has been making an inexorable retreat away from the opened windows of that sweet and brilliant man. Back to exclusivity, elitism. Back to a church of SIN, SIN, SIN-- hardly anything of the brotherhood and ecumenism he tried to bring about, and which actually succeeded in the early 1960's for far too short a time.
